See, for years, I trained like a
bodybuilder. I'd hit a couple of body parts each day: Chest and triceps usually on Mondays, back and back and biceps on Tuesdays, Wednesdays off, legs on Thursdays, shoulders and abs on Fridays.
That type of training DOES have the potential to get you big and strong. By my senior year of college, at age 21, I weighed almost 300 pounds. I bench pressed 450, power cleaned 365, and squatted 575.
BUT - that training also can take a BIG toll on the body. My joints ached. My body hurt in
general. And really, it didn't do a lot as far as conditioning or carry-over to real world activities. So I started to explore other methods of "functional training".
I discovered kettlebells in 2009.
Now, every single workout was full body. While you were getting your heart rate up, at the same time, you were getting resistance training. TOTALLY different than
what I was used to. but also, really awesome!
After a few years of training with the KBs, I started to think. what if I can COMBINE kettlebells with the core barbell lifts, so that I can stay strong and powerful. at the SAME TIME, getting athletic and mobile?
