PRINT AND SAVE: Hybrid KB Muscle vs Bodybuilding

Published: Tue, 11/05/19

Last year, I traveled to Italy to renew my StrongFirst Lifter (SFL) certification.

It was an amazing time.

I'm hoping to plan a trip to re-cerify at another cool location in 2020!

But there was one REALLY interesting fact that I observed - and that is the training people followed to prepare for the event.

The folks that took the Hybrid Kettlebell Muscle approach - that is, blending strength with functional training, focusing on the required lifts (Zercher, front, and back squats, good mornings, deadlifts, bench press, Military press), but also incorporating kettlebells and bodyweight, and training to not only get strong but also be lean and athletic and move well - they did great.

Passed the technique tests with flying colors.

Then you had the guys and gals who had probably been taking more of the "bodybuilding" approach - likely doing a lot of isolation-type exercises, splitting their bodyparts up and training one or two on different days, doing less of the functional training - type stuff, and more of the muscle-gaining, asthetic-oriented stuff - they did poorly.

When it came to pressing a barbell into a good position overhead, or squatting to depth while maintaining a neutral spine ... a lot of them simply couldn't do it.

They didn't have the mobility and/or strength (in the right places) to make it happen.

And they ended up not passing the certification technique tests as a result.

Conclusion:

If you just want to focus on looking good, a more traditional, bodybuilding-style program is fine. You WILL get bigger muscles training this way.

However, if you want the show AND the go ... if you want to get strong and muscular, WHILE staying lean, and athletic, and mobile at the SAME TIME ... and take all the guesswork out of how to put that together and make it happen ... I suggest Hybrid Kettlebell Muscle.

In this program, you are going to learn how to properly combine the traditional barbell lifts (squat, bench, deadlift) with kettlebells, for the perfect balance.

I think it's one of the best around for this specific type of training and goals.

As a matter of fact, I don't know of anything out there that's exactly like it.
